2015 E. Guenther Memorial Scholarship Award
Muskego High School teacher and Project Lead the Way Advocate, Karen Lindholm-Rynkiewicz was awarded an Ernie Guenther Memorial Scholarship by ASM-Milwaukee in 2015. The funds were used to purchase a flow rate meter, a hand dynamometer and a LabQuest handheld computer interface, which are used in STEM courses. These devices have been integral to the research project of two Muskego students, Carlee B. and Lucas M. The goal of their project is to use absorptive material to remove mercury from rivers. At the Badger State Science and Engineering Fair, Carlee and Lucas won the Philip Streich Memorial Award, placed in the Stockholm Junior Water Prize competition, and earned a second place in the environmental category. They also competed in the iSWEEEP international fair in Houston and won a gold medal. The equipment obtained using the scholarship helped to provide credible data to these students.
